Koei Tecmo has announced that Toukiden: Kiwame is coming to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita platforms sometime in March this year.

Toukiden: The Age of Demons was released last year exclusively on the PS Vita handheld gaming device from Sony, and the action-adventure video game managed to gain quite a following.

Developer Omega Force is now working on a follow-up to the game, that will also make it over to the PlayStation 4.

Toukiden is set in a fantasy world based on medieval Japan, following a group of warriors specializing in taking down giant Oni (demons). The events in the original game kick off as a great demon emerges from the underworld and brings about an age of great calamity, forcing the warriors to mount a last stand against the demonic forces.

Toukiden: Kiwami will feature all the content in the original Toukiden: The Age of Demons, and will also offer a brand new story of roughly the same size, that continues the events from where they were left off.

The new storyline will explore the origin of the Slayers as well as reveal the truth about the mysterious Council of Elders.

The game will come with all the characters from the original, and will also feature brand new warriors, such as Reki, Soma, and Horo, making the story of preventing another Awakening from occurring deeper and more satisfying.

A lot of new content and improvements

One of the most popular features of the original third-person monster hunting game was the cooperative mode, enabling up to four players to band together and fight the Oni.

Toukiden: Kiwami will strengthen the game's cooperative component with the introduction of new powerful move that can be executed in cooperation with your allies, be they human or computer-controlled.

In order to provide a better single-player experience, Omega Force has reworked and improved the non-playable character artificial intelligence, allowing you to work with smarter allies that will give fighting Oni a more realistic feel.

Veteran players will be pleased to find out that a range of special mission types have been added to the game, where they will be able to fight more than one Oni at a time.

Furthermore, a ton of features have been added to the game, from more difficulty options to new weapon types and even new battle styles.
