After a few teases, Creative Assembly and Sega confirm that Total War: Warhammer is real and that it's coming soon. For now, a pretty impressive cinematic trailer, as well as some brief details, are available for fans of the two major franchises.

The Total War series has delivered some top notch turn-based strategy experiences over the years, taking players through many historical time periods, from the glory days of Rome and the Japanese, to the conquest of Attilla the Hun in the most recent installment.

Total War: Warhammer is real and has both details and a trailer

Now, Creative Assembly is back with an even bigger project, as it's going to release Total War: Warhammer in the future.

The game, confirmed through a stellar cinematic trailer, confirms the blending together of Total War's polished turn-based strategy mechanics with the rich lore of the Warhammer universe.

As you can see in the footage below, quite a few different main races are confirmed, from the humans, to the Orcs (Greenskins), Undead, or Dwarfs. A potential new threat for the Warhammer universe is also introduced, but not everything is clear about the actual story and plot.

The brief description offered alongside the trailer for the new game confirms that players will be able to control gigantic monsters, flying creatures, legendary heroes, and many magical powers while engaging in real-time tactical battles.

"In the turn-based campaign game of statecraft & empire building, you will find the Old World an unforgiving and treacherous place, filled with endless war and cunning alliances alike. Whichever race you choose to play as and however you seek conquest, you will be faced with a conflict that threatens to tear the very fabric of reality asunder," Creative Assembly and Sega mention.

As of yet, no release date was offered for Total War: Warhammer, but you can expect to hear much more in the following days or weeks. Until then, check out the great CGI trailer below.
