Total War: Attila is just a little over one month away from its official launch date, and the team working on the strategy title at The Creative Assembly is ready to offer more details on the new features that gamers will need to master in order to be able to succeed in the single-player campaign.

A new major video from the studio features information on the way hordes and migrations will work, with commentary offered by Simon Mann and Joey Williams.

The company says that even those who are familiar with the main concepts of the Total War series will need a bit of training before they manage to control the new factions introduced in Attila, one of which is the Ostrogoths.

The Creative Assembly also offers more details about the nation and the traits that gamers will be able to take advantage of when playing them.

Migrations and hordes sound pretty fun to use, but it remains to be seen how well the Artificial Intelligence in Total War: Attila will be able to use the new features.

The series has always had trouble delivering computer opponents that can use all the core elements of the various games.

Total War: Attila focuses on decline and destruction

The new title will use a lot of elements that are familiar to those who played Rome II, but the series is no longer focused on the construction of major empires but on the way nations need to adapt in order to survive in the long term.

At the start of the single-player campaign, both the Western and the Eastern Roman Empires are under threat from barbarian tribes, who themselves are fearing the coming Huns, who have developed innovative warfare techniques.

The Creative Assembly says that it will use fear and fire to show how the battlefields of the era changed when compared to the Roman Empire period.

The studio also promises a range of new units, the re-introduction of the family tree, and a more complex take on politics, diplomacy, and covert action.

Total War: Attila will be out on February 17 on the PC.
