14 DAY TRIAL // Hot on the heels of a report saying that Katie Holmes has been hooking up with Jamie Foxx in secret for almost a year and a half, comes an update on the state of her relationship with her famous ex-husband Tom Cruise.
Apparently, they hate each other and are no longer in direct communication, not even when it comes to important problems concerning their daughter Suri. Even weirder, Cruise’s affiliation to the Church of Scientology has nothing to do with their current situation.
Tom and Katie are done for good
Katie filed the divorce papers in 2012, after 6 years of marriage, and rumor has it that she didn’t even warn Tom beforehand because she knew he and Scientology would do whatever they could to get her to change her mind.
She basically took Suri and made a run for it, convinced that they would come to harm if they stayed with Tom and / or wouldn’t make a clean break from that life.
Since late 2013, Katie has been dating her good friend Jamie Foxx, but the relationship is casual and will probably never grow into anything more, as per yesterday’s report.
TMZ did a little digging around and learned that Tom and Katie were no longer keeping in touch; apparently, even details regarding Suri’s education or wellbeing were handled through intermediaries, and they had no desire to do anything to improve the situation.
Initially, insiders claimed that Tom didn’t approve of some of Katie’s boyfriends, but only because he feared they might be a “bad influence” on his daughter. He would not interfere with her life, though, to tell her whom she should or should not see.
In a new report, the same e-zine adds that the 2 exes “hate” each other because of the way their marriage ended: he hates her for ditching him without a word of warning, and she him for “sucking the life out of her.”
Scientology is innocent for once
Scientology has nothing to do with this, TMZ adds: Katie is not even a Suppressive Person (one whom all Scientologists, even close family members, must avoid), which means that Tom isn’t barred from seeing her. He just doesn’t want to.
“In the end, Suri is living with her mom and sees her dad from time to time, but the family unit is completely shattered,” the report adds.
As per the accounts of many former Scientologists, the cult keeps a very tight grip over all its members, to the point where it will forbid them to see a close relative if they’re declared an SP.
Leah Remini left the Church in 2013 and later talked about how all her good friends who remained members started freezing her out, until one day when she realized she was alone. Even her family was told they must cut all contact with her, so they decided to leave too.
Because Cruise is Scientology’s biggest endorser, it was always believed that the Church played a huge part in his divorce from Katie, much like it did in the split from Nicole Kidman. Hearing that they’re now hating each other and Scientology is innocent for a change is definitely surprising.
