Earth to Redmond: hope you can see this!

One of hottest Windows 10 topics these days concerns the icons that Microsoft is planning to use for the final version of the operating system, with the existing pack that’s installed in the technical preview receiving very harsh criticism from users across the world.

And yet, there are ways to make Windows 10’s icons more visually appealing while also retaining their flat look, and a concept created by dejesushn is living proof.

His Windows 10 File Explorer concept shows that Microsoft can easily improve the built-in file manager not only by introducing new icons but also with the help of features that were often requested by users before every single Windows update.

More improvements needed here and there

Truth is, the Windows 10 concept proposed by dejesushn indeed looks good, but it still needs a bunch of improvements here and there that could make it easier to use on desktop computers with a mouse and keyboard.

For example, the tab bar is placed at the bottom of the window, which might be a little counter-intuitive, given the fact that pretty much most applications out there come with a tab bar at the top of the screen.

Icons, on the other hand, really look good despite the fact that they’re entirely flat, so this is just another proof that Microsoft can easily improve its operating system with a little bit more work.

And fortunately, the word is that the company is already testing a new icon pack for Windows 10 that could be introduced as soon as the next technical preview. Windows 10 build 10056 already comes with a new Recycle Bin icon, but no other icon has been changed yet, so this is probably work in progress.

Windows 10 is expected to launch in the second half of 2015, so Microsoft still has enough time to make more changes in this regard.
