Tim Cook and Angela Ahrendts were on the field

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were a hit. The first day of the new device had huge lines of people eagerly waiting to put their hands on Apple's new thing. We are only going to see the first sales numbers on Sunday, but they will probably shatter last year's record of 9 million devices sold in the first weekend.

Apple's higher-ups were on the field in the first day of sales. Tim Cook himself went to the Palo Alto store. He was the one who unlocked the main doors and he went into the crowd taking photos with the customers. He later thanked everyone who owned an iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and posted a picture.

On the other side of the globe, Angela Ahrendts, the new senior vice president of Retail and Online Stores, went to Sydney, Australia, where the first Apple store was opened to sell the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

She tweeted a picture with the employees ready to start their day, and the text said, "Phenomenal start to a historic day and an honor to be with our incredible team and first customers in Sydney."

Apple has already broken last year's record of pre-orders. In the first day of pre-orders, there were over 4 million placed by customers around the world.
