14 DAY TRIAL // Developer CD Projekt Red, the Polish studio behind the upcoming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt role-playing game, has just offered some more details about its actual story, not to mention a few brief statements about the plot's sequences that will offer Ciri as a playable protagonist, besides the main star of the game, Geralt.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set to conclude the trilogy of role-playing experiences focusing on Geralt of Rivia, bringing his story to a close while offering new insight into the huge world of the series through a second playable character, in the form of Ciri, Geralt's adoptive daughter, who plays a mystery role in the actual plot.
So far, CD Projekt Red has shied away from saying anything concrete about Ciri, but thanks to a new series of questions and answers on Twitter from the studio's Senior Game Designer Damien Monnier, lots of fresh details are available.
Ciri offers a change of pace
First up, Monnier says that Ciri offers a change of pace in terms of gameplay as compared to Geralt, as she feels much faster. Even if Geralt can perform his combat moves much faster than in previous games, Ciri will be even speedier. The game's story automatically moves to Ciri during certain moments in the story and Monnier takes care to emphasize that they're not flashbacks or anything like that.
In terms of the actual story, he also mentions that the creator of The Witcher universe, novel writer Andrzej Sapkowski, was involved with the game right at the beginning of its creation process, but since the actual title takes place after the books, CD Projekt Red's writers soon took over the whole project.
Last but not least, both in terms of story and gameplay, The Witcher 3 makes sure that newcomers to the series will get up to speed with everything as fast as possible.
The game is set to appear in May on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, so expect to hear more soon enough.
