14 DAY TRIAL // CD Projekt Red, the developer of the upcoming The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt role-playing game, confirms that the recommended PC requirements recently revealed by it guarantee that the title will run at a 30fps framerate, probably at the Ultra setting, although that specific aspect hasn't been mentioned.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launches in May, and quite a lot of new details, gameplay footage, and screenshots appeared yesterday, after CD Projekt Red organized hands-on sessions with the game around the world.
The PC edition gets fresh details
Now, the studio has started discussing different aspects of the role-playing experience, and with Polish website GryOnline, via NeoGAF, it talks about the PC version and how it will perform when the title is ready for launch.
First up, the studio confirms that there are 230 people working on the title and that most of them are now trying to optimize the game to run as well as possible across the three different platforms.
PC users will be able to import the save game files from The Witcher 2 or decide for themselves the past of Geralt of Rivia as part of a special mechanic in the game. The PS4 and Xbox One will just have the second option.
The game has the same textures and character models across all platforms, but the Xbox One edition has a native resolution of just 900p, as opposed to 1080p on PS4.
The recommended PC specs guarantee 30fps
However, the most interesting statement is in regard to the recommended PC requirements revealed by CD Projekt Red a few weeks ago. According to the studio, reaching those specifications ensures that the game will run at 30fps.
"I think, we'll stick with 30 FPS. We're not going to stop working on performance until the very end, it's crucial matter to us, there are different PCs with different specs. Programmers insisted on avoiding tricking the players by lowering predicted specs. As I mentioned before, It can only get better," the studio explains.
It's unclear at what quality level the recommended PC specs will ensure 30fps, as it could on High or it could very well be on Ultra.
