The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt developer CD Projekt Red emphasizes that the upcoming role-playing experience has a real world filled with believable consequences to different choices that aren't just good or bad, so fans have plenty of things to look forward to when the title launches in May.

The Witcher 3 is set to debut this spring and promises to conclude the adventures focusing on series protagonist Geralt of Rivia. Developer CD Projekt Red is also keen to show that it can deliver another stellar role-playing experience, after having already gained a legion of fans with The Witcher 1 and 2.

One key area where the Polish studio wants to delight is the story, which not only ends the adventures of Geralt but also introduces a new playable character, in the form of Ciri, and the cataclysmic event that's the Wild Hunt.

The game has a realistic world

While talking with Metro, the studio's boss, Marcin Iwinski, confirms that the team is striving to deliver a realistic world with all sorts of decisions and some surprise consequences, so players shouldn't think that, if a decision sounds good, it won't have unforeseen repercussions.

"It’s a very real world. It’s a mature story in a medieval world, and the medieval world, as we all know from the history, was never nice and rosy. Having said that the decisions are almost like in real life, sometimes you think you’re the good guy but the consequences are different," he explains.

Witchers are neutral characters

Iwinski also highlights that, by nature, witchers like Geralt are neutral characters that don't necessarily make good or bad decisions, so players will be able to flesh out their own version of Geralt.

"We are story driven, so there’s a certain story that we’re telling, but Witchers are done neutral. Generally done neutral, as per the stories, and then you can choose your path really. So as you’re a professional monster slayer, and you’re a mutant who’s killing monsters for money, you’re not the kind of guy that everybody loves. But you can do good things in the game if you want, it’s really up to you," he adds.

As such, players should expect some interesting decisions and consequences when The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt debuts on May 19, on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
