Developer Maxis has issued yet another update for the latest iteration in its life simulation series, The Sims.

The update delivers a lot of fresh content for free, continuing the tradition of post-launch support and adding some of the most requested items on the community's wish list.

The main focus of The Sims 4 version 1.3.18.1010 is to enhance the career opportunities of the simulated people, and to offer a more satisfying experience for players.

When the game came out at the beginning of September, many Day One adopters criticized it for missing a ton of features and mechanics, and since then Maxis has been trying to make it up to its customers.

Swimming pools were on the big list of missing things at launch, and Maxis added them via a consistent client update in November, enabling gamers to put on some swimwear, go for a few laps in the pool, and then drown their Sims, probably the most popular activity in the game.

In addition to a slew of new content, the update also introduces a number of fixes and performance improvements, as well as numerous gameplay tuning tweaks.

Some of the new stuff

The biggest changes have been made to careers, with users now being able to climb the corporate ladder and to don new career outfits, as well as to enjoy new reward objects and reward rooms by following a Business Career.

Those who opt to go the Athletic route will also be able to benefit from some new perks and outfits, by choosing between the Hall of Famer and Mr. Solar System paths.

Careers have also been buffed with some new features, such as the ability to accrue Paid Time Off, which can be utilized to take paid days off without losing work performance. Additionally, Sims will begin wanting to take time off in order to relax.

Furthermore, parents will be able to take family leaves, time off for the birth of their baby, and moms will have the possibility of taking time off during the third trimester of pregnancy.

The two time off systems are separate from one another and using one does not affect the balance of the other.

The update also delivers some Holiday-themed content, packed in the Holiday Celebration Pack, available to unlock for free, consisting of wall decorations, some Holiday sweaters and a grinning holiday snowman.
