Firm creates the common profile of a Windows Phone fan

There are considerably fewer users on Windows Phone than on Android and iOS, but Microsoft’s very own platform is slowly winning ground, especially in emerging markets, where affordable devices are a lot more appealing to buyers.

British organization YouGov used information collected from existing Microsoft customers to create the profile of a Windows Phone user and find more about the ones who purchase devices powered by Redmond’s smartphone platform.

Windows Phone users are most often men aged between 25 and 39, most likely working in the information technology field, media publishing, or entertainment. These people have a monthly spare of around 125 British pounds ($195 / 150 euros).

As far as general interests are concerned, those who usually purchase a Windows Phone handsets like computers and technology, video games, cars and motoring, while niche interests include science and technology, Windows, website development hardware, and IT consulting.

In most of the cases, Windows Phone users browse the official WindowsPhone.com and Nokia.com websites, while also keeping following the Facebook pages of both Windows Phone and Nokia.

Windows Phone users describe themselves as clever, thinker, and geeky, and it’s no surprise given the fact that they like IT and computers so much. On occasion, they also become introvert, arrogant, or a pushover, the aforementioned organization notes.

Most of Windows Phone buyers claim that they are not afraid of change and “will happily switch shops for greater speed and convenience,” while calling the Internet “their main source of information.”

Unsurprisingly, those who purchase a Windows Phone device also buy a Microsoft Surface tablet and use Bing as the main search engine. While we really doubt that all Windows Phone users actually stick to Bing after purchasing a Lumia, the same source adds that Xbox consolers are also part of Windows Phone customers’ arsenal.

Mitsubishi is the most likely car brand for Windows Phone users, the source adds, although it’s really hard to believe that such a thing is actually true given the fact that the Japanese aren’t quite the best-selling car brand on the market right now.

Obviously, all these figures are interesting to say the least, but they’re clearly not really accurate, and we, as long-time Windows Phone users, can confirm this. And still, they’re worth a look at, so if you’re using a Windows Phone right now, check out this profile and see how many things are accurate.
