Android users are in for a nice surprise and this time it's for real even if it's been announced on April Fools' Day. It looks like Square Enix has decided to release the original Tomb Raider game on Android platform.

The original Tomb Raider was initially launched on iOS in 2013, so it's been almost two years since the game was only available to iPhone users.

When it released the game on iOS in December 2013, Square Enix did not unveil any plans to bring the original Tomb Raider on other mobile platforms like Android and Windows Phone, so today's announcement comes as a surprise.

According to Square Enix, this is the “full, unedited, unadulterated experience from the classic release.” Among the key features of the game, developers mention epic exploration, acrobatic gunplay, combat lethal predators, and support for game controllers.

Lara is back for more classic action!

The original Tomb Raider for Android supports MOGA Ace Power & Logitech PowerShell. Fans will be pleased to know that the game also includes two extra chapters that were included in the game's 1998 release.

The 3D adventure game provides players with about 10 hours of gameplay in which they will have to fight Atlantean centaurs and solve challenging puzzles.

However, the game won't come for free, but at least it doesn't cost that much. So, if you don't have the game installed yet, you can now download Tomb Raider for Android for $0.99 via Google Play Store.

The game should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.0 and up. Keep in mind that some smartphones are not yet supported even if they are on the compatibility list.

Hopefully, the Android version of the original Tomb Raider benefits from a better port than the iOS game, which has some awful controls that ruin the gaming experience.
