The Order: 1886, the upcoming PS4 exclusive third-person shooter from developer Ready at Dawn, has a 30fps framerate but this doesn't mean that its action isn't silky smooth, as the studio confirms that, through special techniques, it's managed to avoid some of the issues raised by the low framerate, as opposed to a 60fps one.

The Order: 1886 is set to debut later this week and developer Ready at Dawn has started sharing more and more details about the impressive shooter and how it manages to deliver a great visual experience on the PS4.

The 30fps framerate is responsive and feels smooth, dev says

While talking with DualShockers, the studio's Chief Technical Officer Andrea Pessino confirms that the 30fps framerate in The Order: 1886 manages to remain responsive and silky smooth due to a few impressive techniques employed by its staff while making the game's engine.

First up, the framerate is fully stable, as there are no dips below 30, and thanks to techniques like temporal anti-aliasing, the post-processing manages to make the frames look very impressive in motion.

What's more, the game's rendering framerate and the simulation one are the same, as Ready at Dawn opted not to use lag frames. This trick, apparently, is used by games and creates a delay between a player's control input and the result on the screen. Thanks to the removal of such a procedure, The Order manages to feel as responsive as a 60fps title and is reminiscent of fighting games as they also don't use lag frames.

Fans will be able to judge for themselves once the game debuts on PS4 on February 20, worldwide. Until then, just a few more days are left and you can bet that the studio will share more details, in order to prevent controversies like the recent one surrounding the game's replay value and its story length.
