Some time ago it was announced that Universal Studios was planning to remake “The Mummy” franchise and that it had already assigned a director to the project. Today, one website claims to have stumbled upon what is the plot to the next “Mummy” film.

The news comes from Superhero Movie News, which says that the new movie is going to take place in modern times, as opposed to the last one, whose action unfolded in the 20s. It's is going to revolve around Navy Seal Tyler Colt, who gets sent to the Iraqi desert in order to find a group of terrorists hiding out in a bunker.

When he gets to the bunker, he finds nothing more than dead grave robbers. After entering the bunker, Tyler and his team realize that there are supernatural forces afoot and that the bunker eventually leads to a centuries-old tomb.

One after the other, the Seals are killed off or captured by the old spirits, turning them on one another. Tyler is the last one to stay alive and he goes deep inside the tomb, where he stumbles on a Black Iron Sarcophagus.

Under the spell of the spirits, Tyler is coerced to open the sarcophagus, but as soon as he places his hand on the lid, he is stabbed in the palm with a star-shaped symbol. From this point on, he will constantly be plagued with visions of Ashurbanipal, King of Assyria, aka The Mummy.

The plot stresses that Tyler does not become the Mummy himself, but has a connection with the monster, which will allow him to be the only one to be able to stop it when the time comes and the Mummy rises again.
