Zenimax Online Studios confirms that The Elder Scrolls Online Update 6 is going to bring a new mechanic called Collections that will allow players to easily access items like mounts, vanity pets, or costumes, without having to navigate the clunky interface.

The Elder Scrolls Online rolled out last year across the PC and Mac platforms, and then got a wide array of delays for its PS4 and Xbox One platforms. A few days ago, Zenimax Online Studios and Bethesda confirmed that they were transitioning the game into a new version called Tamriel Unlimited, which no longer has a mandatory subscription.

Now, ahead of that actual change, Zenimax Online Studios confirms that it still plans on bringing forth major update 6 that will provide plenty of enhancements to the multiplayer experience.

A new set of details are available on the official website, this time going in-depth about the inventory changes that will come with the upcoming patch.

Easily access your mounts, vanity pets, or costumes

According to the developer, the upgraded user interface is going to group up into three separate categories a player's mounts, vanity pets, and costumes, so that they can be accessed much more easily, instead of trying to navigate the menus.

"You can activate your items directly from the Collections window at any time without needing to have the item in your inventory, or even bind them to a hotkey for easy use. Whenever you obtain a new item that belongs in one of these collections, it automatically hops into its place—you don't need to do anything at all," the dev explains.

The mount system is also going to be refined, so that a player's advantages gained after getting riding lessons, such as improved mounted speed, stamina, or carrying capacity, will apply to all the mounts. As such, you can choose between your favorites, without worrying about their stats.

For completionists, the new Collections window is also going to display items that you don't own. If you hover with the mouse cursor over them, you'll see a tooltip that shows how you can get them, making things much easier.

The studio also highlights that this is just the first iteration of the system, so expect things to get more refined with future updates.
