The maker of Tekken is apparently working on a brand new free-to-play action game for the Wii U, codenamed Project Treasure.

The latest Nintendo Direct was absolutely packed with new information, including this little gem from Tekken director Katushiro Harada.

The famed sunglasses aficionado announced that a brand new title would be coming from Namco Bandai, headed exclusively to the Wii U home console, focusing on teams of four gamers cooperatively hunting for treasure, clearing traps and fighting various enemies.

The game is designed to target a broader audience than the very specialized Tekken, and will be much more accessible, as a result. Another point of note is that Project Treasure is going to be a free-to-play game, available to everyone as long as their Wii U is connected to the Internet.

Harada mentioned that he was unable to announce the game's actual name or launch date yet, but that the project was being created by the Dragon Ball Xenoverse makers Dimps, who were hard at work.

Project Treasure will only be released as a digital title, available for download on the Nintendo eShop. Further updates are expected from Bandai Namco soon, including a full announcement and reveal of the mysterious upcoming video game.
