It appears that Bandai Namco Games is looking to make the upcoming Tekken 7 more approachable to newcomers to the titles, with a series of preset combos.

The fighting video game series has been around for quite some years now, but not everyone managed to pick it up from the beginning.

The way fighting games are, most subsequent entries in a franchise build upon the basic mechanics established in prior entries, which means that the entry learning curve is pretty steep. Bandai Namco Games aims to introduce a new mechanic meant to make the learning phase easier, by having each character come with two preset motions that perform extended combos.

The mechanic is similar to the auto combos in Persona 4 Arena, but players still need to memorize basic motions in order to pull them off, according to Siliconera.

If you're curious about how the new combos work, you can take a look at the gameplay video below, showing them off in Tekken 7's arcade edition.

The basic combos are a great way for newcomers to learn

The combination of moves required to pull them off is pretty basic, much simpler than actual combos, but enables newcomers to get used to the game's combo system, and to get more familiar with how the game works while also affording them a fighting chance.

The game will also introduce a couple of new gameplay mechanics, and an extensive roster, with producer Katsuhiro Harada mentioning that the team is aiming for around 40 characters in total.

Tekken 7 is going to ship with a ton of new warriors, including Lucky Chloe, Katarina Alves, Claudio Serafino, and Shaheen, but will also feature many of the fan favorites from throughout the series, including Paul, Kazuya, Heihachi, Law, Xiaoyu, Hwoarang and Bryan.

Tekken 7 is live right now in Japan, in arcades, and is expected on the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system from Sony and the Xbox One home console from Microsoft later this year.
