Telltale Games reveals the first full-fledged details about its upcoming Tales from the Borderlands episodic series, alongside a gameplay video and the confirmation that the first actual episode is set to debut very soon.

The Borderlands franchise made by Gearbox Software and published by 2K has captured the hearts and minds of millions of fans from around the world, especially since the last two installments, Borderlands 2 and the Pre-Sequel, managed to shine both through gameplay and story.

As a result, the franchise attracted the attention of Telltale Games, the studio behind highly popular adventure series like The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, and many others. The studio teamed up with Gearbox and 2K and confirmed earlier this year that it was going to debut Tales from the Borderlands, an episodic series focusing on two new characters that try to survive in the gritty world of Pandora.

The game has since received some details, but in classic Telltale style, not a lot was known, besides the main protagonists and that they would interact with main franchise characters.

New details are now available

Thankfully, the studio now shares on its blog more info about the upcoming episodic series, accurately highlighting the two main characters, Rhys and Fiona, as well as their ultimate goals in the new adventure.

"You'll play as Rhys, a Hyperion 'suit' with dreams of being the next Handsome Jack, and Fiona, a Pandoran con artist looking to score her biggest ever swindle. Thrown together as unwilling partners in an adventure to recover cash they both think is theirs, their journey will take you on a wild ride where gangsters, bandit lords, and Vault Hunters are just some of the obstacles you'll encounter," the studio explains.

Telltale emphasizes that Tales from the Borderlands takes place after the events of Borderlands 2 and consists of five episodes that will be filled with the trademark humor of the franchise.

The voice actors are also revealed

Besides sharing actual details, Telltale also confirms some of the voice actors that will be present in the new series, starting with Troy Baker as Rhys, Laura Bailey as Fiona, who'll be accompanied by the likes of Nolan North, Chris Hardwick, Erin Yvette, or Patrick Warburton. Dameon Clarke returns, in some way, to portray Handsome Jack, the iconic villain of the last two titles in the series

The first episode in Tales from the Borderlands, called Zer0 Sum, launches soon across the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One. Expect to hear an exact date in the near future.

Until then, check out the new gameplay video below.
