Gamers will once again have to explore to get story elements

The development team at The Fullbright Company impressed a lot of people with their first video game, called Gone Home, and they are now working on a new project, called Tacoma, which seems to share its narrative ambition even if it focuses on an entirely new theme.

The company is currently delivering just a short teaser trailer for the title, choosing to first show it off during the PlayStation Experience event. The video features an astronaut who is sent to explore a lunar transfer station which seems to be a little out of the ordinary.

At the moment, there are no clear details about Tacoma, but the footage is pretty solid even if the game is early in the development process.

The space station is bathed in gold and it seems that the player will be mostly alone as he moves around its environments.

The Fullbright Company says that it is aiming to create mechanics focused on how a story can be explored in a microgravity environment.

The team clearly understands what made Gone Home a success and wants to offer the same feeling of discovery with the new project, while choosing a new theme that might draw in a larger group of gamers.

Tacoma does not yet have an official launch window, but fans will surely have to wait for it until 2016 and it is unclear whether the studio plans to only introduce the title on the PlayStation 4 or will also deliver it, perhaps with a delay, on the Xbox One and the PC.

The Fullbright Company can create emotion-driven stories

The success of Tacoma will be linked to how well it manages to create an interesting narrative and interesting characters while allowing gamers to discover them at their own pace.

Gone Home managed to sell well and became a critical hit because it focused on one character and allowed players to become accustomed to her reactions and ideas about life as they explored a house that hid more secrets than expected.

Tacoma takes place on a space station, which is a much more public structure, and that probably means that The Fullbright Company will be more focused on interactions with other characters and the environment.

The fact that the title was first shown at the PlayStation Experience event is also another sign that Sony is committed to offering long-term support for smaller teams that have cool ideas and use the processing power of the PlayStation 4.
