Twitter is looking into revamping its design

Twitter wants to make it easier for all users who encounter any difficulties going through all the noise from the social platform.

It seems that Twitter might have received some feedback from users claiming that the Trending Topics are not very accurate, meaning that they cannot really tell what the hashtags refer to, especially if they are made up of some initials.

So Twitter announced in an official blog that they only removed the Discover tab to replace it with something more useful that users might appreciate, namely enhancing the Trends section with a more detailed view of what the trending subjects are about.

More elaborate trending topics

Users will be able to see a short description of the topic in question and know a bit more what it is about. For instance, until now, if they saw an abbreviated term like #NYFW, they probably did not know exactly what it stood for, but with this new enhancement the short explanation will reveal what the trending topic refers to.

Twitter also mentioned that this new feature could include the number of tweets related to the topic and whether it is trending up or down.

This option is currently available for Android and iOS users. It has just rolled out in U.S. for users who have the Tailored Trends option turned on, but Twitter mentioned that they were thinking of making it available in other countries also.

Although for those outside the U.S. the explanatory information of trending topics is not accessible, the Discover button is still there. Twitter did not specify when exactly they would make it available worldwide.

Twitter’s decision to get rid of Discover was in fact anticipated by most users, given that no one actually used it, being a mix of tweets, trends, events and top stories. It was not very user-friendly so probably most people did not even notice that it was gone.

As a matter of fact, Twitter has recently been experimenting with its features. The company confirmed for Mashable that they had introduced new ways to filter the search results, making it easier for people to find what they are interested in faster.
