14 DAY TRIAL // Tumblr has just announced that a big update for its iOS application is now available for download via App Store. Since this new update bumps Tumblr to version 4.0, it makes sense to contain lots of new features and improvements.
So, starting with the most obvious changes included in this update, the visual ones, Tumblr has confirmed that they have redesigned the iOS application.
There are many tweaks that users will find more than welcome. There's a new icon for Tumblr 4.0 and many, many new features and improvements.
According to the developers, Tumblr users will be able to create new secondary blogs or submit to submission blogs.
There's also a new option that allows users to make video posts using a video URL. This is one of the most requested features by Tumblr users, and developers have decided to implement it in this version. You will only need to copy / paste a YouTube link and you're done.
Lots of tweaks and visual changes have been implemented
Furthermore, the update adds filter searches by post type. The Tumblr widget has been improved, so it now offers one-finger access to what's trending. However, you will need to do some settings before using this new feature.
Swipe down from anywhere to open the widget screen, scroll down the bottom of the “Today” tab, then tap “Edit,” and choose “Trending on Tumblr.”
There are even more improvements included in the update, such as a new sticky search bar, sticky avatars, better iPad layout, and better GIF loading.
These aren't all the change in the latest version of Tumblr, but the developers claim there are too many to list them all, so you will have to discover them by yourself.
You can now download Tumblr for iOS 4.0 for free via App Store. Keep in mind that the application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by iOS 7.1 and up.
