Samsung is working to bring Android 5.0 Lollipop to as many Galaxy smartphones as possible in the next couple of months. The first to get the highly anticipated update will be Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4, as these are the latest flagships in its portfolio.

While the South Korean company is busy working on Android 5.0 Lollipop, US-based carrier Sprint has just kicked off the rollout of Android 4.4.4 KitKat for Samsung Galaxy S5.

The update is supposed to bring the Sprint Galaxy S5 to the latest version of Android prior to Lollipop and add a few security improvements.

According to the official changelog published by Sprint, the update should contain some Google Security Patches, international Wi-Fi calling support and HD voice icon.

The carrier also mentions that Samsung Galaxy S5 owners should receive the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update within the next couple of days.

The OTA (over the air) update is delivered in stages, which means that it might take more than a week until it reaches all Sprint Galaxy S5 devices.

In the same piece of news, Samsung has yet to roll out the Android 4.4.4 KitKat internationally, but given the release at Sprint, we expect the update to slowly make its way to other countries. That if nothing wrong happens in the meantime, of course.
