We reported about a week ago that Micromax have begun the deployment of the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for Canvas A1 in India. Although the rollout usually takes a few days, many Micromax Canvas A1 owners have yet to receive the update.

Anyway, we promised at that time that we would let you know when the other two Android One smartphones launched in India: Spice Dream Uno and Karbonn Sparkle V.

Well, it looks like today is a good day for Spice Dream Uno owners in India, as the Indian OEM has just announced on its Facebook page that it has started the rollout of Android 5.1 Lollipop update.

According to Spice, “Your rocking weekend starts today. Spice rolls out Lollipop 5.1 update for Spice Dream Uno users.”

Unfortunately, there are no details on the changes this update brings to Spice Dream Uno. The size of the update file is unknown as well, but since the Micromax Canvas A1's Lollipop update has 410MB we believe the Dream Uno's is around the same size.

Karbonn Sparkle V has yet to receive the update

We also suspect that some of the changes in Android 5.1 Lollipop will improve the phone's performance and will fix lots of known bugs.

There are still some issues that need to be fixed such as the memory leak reported by Android 5.0 Lollipop users, which is present in Android 5.1 Lollipop as well.

Even though Google has already managed to found a way to patch the memory leak, the fix hasn't been included in Android 5.1 Lollipop. However, the search giant promised that the memory leak fix would be part of the next update it would release.

Now that Spice Dream Uno has started to receive Android 5.1 Lollipop, Karbonn Sparkle V has remained the last Android One smartphone to get the update. Stay tuned for more on this one.
