The Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet has seen the light of day at MWC 2014 in Barcelona and the slate arrived with Android 4.4.2 out of the box.

Well, even as the Android 4.4.4 update started rolling out for a multitude of tablets, the Xperia Z2 Tablet didn’t receive the same treatment, frustrating some users who felt “stuck” with the 4.4.2 version.

The good news is the update should be heading to your tablet soon enough, because the Android 4.4.4 firmware for the tablet has received certification, as reported by the Xperia Blog.

The new build has been given the green light for SGP521 and SGP541 variants of the tablet, which means the LTE and Wi-Fi versions, are both included.

As a reminder, the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet arrives with a 10.1-inch TFT full HD display (1920 x 1200 pixel resolution) and draws power from a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3GHz fitted with 3GB of RAM and backed up by 16 or 32GB of space.

The tablet relies on a hefty 6000 mAh that should last users enough to handle a day’s work.

A few months after unveiling the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet at MWC 2014, Sony put out the smaller Xperia Tablet Z3 Compact which also runs Android 4.4.2 out of the box. No word of when the 8-incher will be updated.
