14 DAY TRIAL // Sony pledges to improve one of the less-known features of its PlayStation 4 console, namely the Docs for PlayStation service, which displays the manuals for Sony-published games on the popular device and could soon receive special additions like strategy guides, art books, or other things.
The PS4 launched back in 2013 and Sony has released quite a lot of different first-party games for the powerful home console. However, unlike many games nowadays, those titles didn't come with a manual or guide in the actual case, as Sony is going into an eco-friendly direction thanks to Docs with PlayStation, which contains digital manuals.
Docs with PlayStation hasn't been promoted all that much
In a new post on the PS blog, Sony admits that it hasn't really promoted Docs with PlayStation all that much, as very few players have bothered to search for the feature. In case you don't know, you can view it by selecting the game in the menu screen and displaying its Live Tile by pressing down on the controller's D-pad.
Right now, Docs with PlayStation includes the manuals, but also a few guides or tutorials, not to mention info about upcoming or already released DLC. A control scheme is also included for most games, so there is a bit of handy information for those who want it.
What's more, Docs with PlayStation can also be easily accessed on a smartphone, tablet, or a computer via a web browser, so you can check it out at any time through the website, without having to access your PS4 console.
More features are coming
Sony also pledges to expand on the things offered to users with Docs for PlayStation, as the company wants to add premium content like strategy guides, art books, and specialty guides for certain things like trophies.
Unfortunately, there's no word on when Docs with PlayStation might get improved, so expect to hear more in the future, probably at major events like E3 2015, this summer. Until then, fans of things like strategy guides can only get them by buying them from retail or digital shops.
