Sony has already released Android 5.0 Lollipop update for all its Xperia Z devices. The last smartphones to receive the update, the older Xperia Z handsets, have started to receive Lollipop yesterday.

However, it looks like Sony continues to improve its software and today the company announced it has put together another Android 5.0 Lollipop update for some of its Xperia Z smartphones.

Since the older Xperia Z devices are just getting the first update, it makes sense that the new update is aimed at newer smartphones.

Well, not that new, but definitely newer than the original Xperia Z. According to Sony, a new software update is now available for Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra.

Keep in mind that this will bring the phones' software to version Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, but it will also add some important new features and improvements.

The official changelog mentions that the update ensures that the lock screen / notification bar doesn't indicate “no service” when the device has coverage.

“Close all” apps button is back

Furthermore, the update adds a new Sony feature. In fact, it brings back the “close-all-button” in the activity menu, so users can easily close all apps at once.

The update is also meant to ensure the LED light is lit across all sound modes and that it is no longer offset by “silent.”

Sony also confirmed that it improved messaging functionality in Ultra stamina mode and addressed issues with some conversations that could not be opened before in Ultra stamina mode.

They also made the necessary fixes to enable the easy movement of content from internal memory to external microSD card.

For the time being, the update is only available in Canada at TELUS, XperiaBlog reports. Still, we expect this Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update to continue to be rolled out to other countries in the coming days.
