PlayStation owners who are also PS Plus subscribers will be pleased to know Sony has just started to apply the promised 5-day extension beginning today.

According to the email Sony is sending PlayStation Plus members eligible for this offer, the extension will be applied automatically and no action is necessary to receive it.

Many of you probably know that this gift is offered by Sony to thank all PlayStation Plus subscribers for their patience during the PSN service outage over the holidays.

If you haven't received the email from Sony yet, then know that in order to be eligible for the 5-day extension, you should have had an active membership or free trial on December 25.

It you meet that requirement, you will receive 5 more days of PlayStation Plus membership even if in the meantime your subscription has expired.

But that is not all, the Sony offers those who have been more or less patient when PlayStation Network service was down for more than a week during the holidays.

A 10% discount voucher is available to all PSN members as well

The Japanese company decided to offer a discount code to all PSN members for a one-time 10% discount off a total cart purchase of Games and Add-Ons in the PlayStation Store available to be used between January 23 and January 26.

The discount code has already been made available on the PlayStation Store home page and is different depending on your country. Make sure to copy/paste the code that corresponds to the country that your PS Plus account is attached to.

It's also worth mentioning that you can't use the 10% discount on any game in the PlayStation Store, as some exceptions apply, such as pre-orders.

Although they weren't included in the exception list initially, Sony backtracked and confirmed that those entitled to receive this 10% discount voucher wouldn't be able to use it on games that are on pre-order.
