Always try to secure the high ground and use mages well

Dragon Age: Inquisition is now also available in Europe after its launch in North America on Tuesday, and most gamers are probably finding out that the combat has been given an overhaul when compared to the previous title in the series and requires a bit more thinking and planning.

Most gamers will remember that Dragon Age 2 was focused on action and dynamics, to the displeasure of many, and with the new title, BioWare has made sure that all those playing on Normal or above should, most of the time, use the Tactical View.

My advice is to check the behavior of all characters and to set clear routines for the AI to use, including how they use magic and potions.

This will vary depending on zone and on how they evolve in terms of spells and abilities, but it’s crucial to be able to have them fight efficiently without micro-managing them at every turn.

Increasing hitpoint for enemies is the main method of increasing difficulty that BioWare uses and that means gamers need to plan for relatively long battles, in which survivability should be their main concern.

When using the Tactical View, make sure that you control the high ground as much as possible with Varric and the mage included in the party and that you use a shield and sword character to block access and to move enemies to open ground.

Keeping track of potion use is also very important for the combat in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
