Users want to convince Snapchat to launch a WP client

Snapchat can no longer be used on Windows Phone because Microsoft removed all third-party clients from the store, and at this point, no official app is available for those running Redmond’s smartphone platform on their devices.

It’s easy to imagine how frustrating it actually is for some customers to see that Snapchat is no longer available all of a sudden, so someone decided to launch a petition on change.org and thus try to convince Snapchat to launch an official app on Windows Phone.

The petition calls for the company to “make Snapchat for Windows Phone” and requires a total of 4,146 signatures to complete. Until now, more than 2,800 people have signed the petition.

Windows Phone users: We’re desperate!

The message posted on the official page of the petition pretty much speaks for itself. Casper Tobias Svensrud, the Windows Phone user who launched the petition, says that users need to “tweet them, mail them, send PMs on Facebook and do everything you can and do your best to make a Snapchat app available for Windows Phone.”

Of course, there’s no guarantee that Snapchat would actually listen to their requests, especially because this petition doesn’t exactly promote a friendly approach.

“Share this and spam Snapchat as much as you can so they're understand what we're trying to tell them! We're desperate!” the petition reads.

“We’re using the third most-popular mobile OS”

Interestingly, Windows Phone users hope that showing Snapchat what they do wrong would actually help the development team figure out why they need to bring the official app on Microsoft’s mobile platform as well.

“This is actually stupid when ONE man can make an app that is really Nice, but a Whole team is spending Money on Things who People never gonna know about such as Snapcash, instead of making a tiny little app,” they say.

At this point, there’s no Snapchat client available in the store, and although there are some rumors that an official app might be launched in the coming months, there’s still no confirmation that such a thing would happen.

Snapchat experienced some security issues earlier this year, when plenty of photos and videos belonging to users got leaked, so since then, the company started banning third-party clients to make sure that no such breaches are experienced in the future again.

In the last 30 days, users of third-party apps on Windows Phones got their accounts locked, so removing these programs from the store was most likely just a preventive solution to make sure that no other accounts are being banned until an official client arrives. Whenever that’s going to happen.
