The good news is the divers eventually managed to snap a whole lot of photos of both the whale and the poop cloud

Last year, Canadian photographer Keri Wilk went diving in the waters off the coast of the small island of Dominica in the Caribbean Sea. Little did he know that he was about to take some of the most impressive wildlife photos ever to hit the public eye.

Long story short, the 30-year-old photographer ended up snapping pictures of a massive sperm whale pooping on him and fellow divers. Yes, this guy is one of the few people in this world who can take pride in having had the chance to swim around in a cloud of whale poop.

A scary-looking poop-nade this way comes

Keri Wilk says that, on the day of this rather amusing incident, he and other wildlife enthusiasts went for a dive in the waters off the coast of the island of Dominica, hoping to photograph at least some of the marine creatures populating this corner of the world.

To their delight, they came across a majestic sperm whale. Hoping to get a better look at the marine mammal, the divers approached it. Rather than simply swim away or pose for the camera, the whale decided to put on a show the divers would not easily forget.

Thus, the animal simply turned in their direction and started pooping. As if this weren't enough, the marine mammal also began spinning on its side and moving its tail around. The result was a swirling cloud of poop that Keri Wilk says looked like a poop-nado.

“Four of us got into the water near the whale, then it slowly approached us, stopped, and pointed itself straight down before storm began. Four of us looked at each other with confusion, then back at the whale, expecting that any second its call from nature would come to an end.”

“Instead, the whale bobbed up and down, spun in circles and waved the poo in every direction for several minutes while we just sat back and watched. The water was crystal clear, initially, and was the most idyllic Caribbean blue water that you could imagine,” the photographer remembers.

No, the whale was not being rude

At this point, some of you might be tempted to assume that this sperm whale Keri Wilk and fellow divers encountered while exploring the Caribbean Sea must have been the absolute rudest ever to swim in our planet's seas and oceans.

Still, wildlife specialists say that, all things considered, chances are that the whale only pooped on the divers because it felt threatened by them and wanted to confuse them just enough to make sure that they would not attack her. Well, mission accomplished.
