Hip hop mogul Suge Knight was arrested in January this year after running over 2 men with his SUV, fatally wounding one, in an argument that had broken earlier, on the set of Dr. Dre’s biopic “Straight Outta Compton.” Footage from the incident has been released online.

TMZ posted the video, taken from a nearby surveillance camera, with the approval of the family of Terry Carter, the man who died after being plowed down and ran over twice by Knight. They want the world to know that his claim at self-defense doesn’t hold any water.

Shocking footage seems to confirm prosecutors’ version of the events

In the video, Suge is seen pulling up in his car in the parking lot of Tam’s Burgers in Compton. This was the second time he was here in less than an hour, because he’d shown up earlier asking to talk to Dr. Dre about the movie they were shooting.

He was kicked off the set by Cle “Bone” Sloan, who handled security issues. On his return, Knight reportedly claimed he wanted to make peace.

In the video, Bone is seen approaching the car and then attacking Knight through the open window of the car. The hip hop mogul backs up the truck and knocks Bone down with the side mirror, as he backs up and out of the parking lot.

There’s some commotion and then the truck appears again, running over Bone and plowing down Carter, who is run over twice after he’s tossed in the air.

The video is beyond graphic and violent, so we won’t embed it here. However, prosecutors and Carter’s family tell the celebrity e-zine that they believe this is the proof they need that Knight attacked the two men and killed Carter in cold blood.

“The Carter family is pleased you are releasing the video so the public can see what actually occurred and not be forced to speculate based on third party descriptions of the video,” reads a statement from the family.

Self-defense: Suge Knight claims he was fleeing for his life

Oddly enough, an attorney for the music mogul claims that the same video actually supports his theory that he acted in self-defense and that he only ran down the men because he knew they were carrying guns and was thinking they might shoot him.

Last year, Suge Knight was shot 6 times in a club brawl, and he’s been living in fear since, apparently.

In the video, after the truck speeds out of the frame, another man comes along, bends low to Bone, who is by now lying injured on the pavement, picks something from his pocket and puts it in his own waistband.

According to Knight’s attorney, that was a gun Bone was willing to use on him: in other words, Knight thought he would be shot dead if he didn’t run over the two men, because injuring only Bone wouldn’t have stopped Carter from firing at him.

Suge Knight has a long history of arrests and time served on violence and gun-related charges. On his first day of trial he had to be rushed to the hospital after complaining of bad health, and he’s been trying to convince the judge that his condition will only be getting worse.
