Microsoft first announced its twisted take on the Roller Coaster Tycoon franchise at Gamescom, and now the company is back with some neat 1080p screenshots, showing us what the game's all about.

The images come from Xbox Japan and are most likely captured from the Xbox One version of the title, offering us a glimpse of how the futuristic rollercoaster simulator looks.

ScreamRide is currently in development at Frontier Developments and will enable gamers to create their own custom rides, only with a sinister twist.

Apart from allowing users to indulge in building stuff, ScreamRide will also encourage them to delve in destruction, as the announcement video clearly shows.

For the time being, there is no information on whether the building part will take precedence over hilarity and zaniness, but more details will probably be delivered in these coming months.

The game looks pretty good so far, with a very clean overall aesthetic that reminds one of Mirror's Edge.

All about building and crushing stuff

The development team mentioned that the power under the Xbox One's hood enabled them to implement a lot of simulation mechanics, so it should be interesting to see how the title turns out to play.

The team revealed that you would be able to destroy huge buildings by taking out their supporting pillars with rollercoaster carts, because what's a good sim-park game without a healthy dose of sadism?

The game will feature an in-depth creation system that will enable them to create intricate rides and imposing structures, and it's going to be very interesting to see whether it will have any tie-ins with Microsoft's rumored VR tech.

ScreamRide is due out on March 3 in North America, March 5 in Japan, and March 6 in Europe, headed exclusively to the Xbox 360 and Xbox One home consoles from Microsoft.
