Team Fortress 2 has just received its traditional Scream Fortress VI in-game event, which delivers all sorts of surprises to the popular free-to-play first-person shooter, including a mini-game centered around bumper cars.

Team Fortress 2 has seen quite a lot of major in-game events over the years, as Valve launches many themed updates that usually come with different celebrations and activities to get people back into the free-to-play experience.

A new Scream Fortress is now live

This Halloween, the traditional Scream Fortress event returns, this time in the form of Scream Fortress VI. The activity is already live thanks to a new update for the game and centers on Merasmus and his carnival. For those who want even more background info, a special comic is available on the official website.

"Misfortune telling! Dangerous rides! The world's biggest test-your-strength strongman machine! Merasmus's Carnival of Carnage has it all... except corpses! Due to a miscommunication with his contractor, Merasmus forgot to build his evil carnival on top of an ancient burial ground," Valve says about the new event.

"But thanks to an eldritch loophole, he can still salvage his sinister sideshow by piling an impromptu burial ground on top of it. If only he knew an unstable group of hired killers willing to rack up a body count fast."

The main action takes place on a new map called Carnival of Carnage, where players can not only kill each other in regular first-person shooter style but also engage in a Strongman Test-Your-Strength challenge that sends them to a new mini-game called Bumper Car Madness.

The special activity sees each player pilot a bumper car in a special environment, and the winning team must "ghostify" their opponents, or complete the objectives. You can perform speed boosts in the bumper car as well as cast spells.

Gifts and new items are also available

There are 50 new Halloween-themed community cosmetic items, as well as six achievements that relate to the actual bumper car mini-game and the Carnival of Carnage map.

When they log into the game, each player receives a special Halloween Gift Cauldron bundle that includes various items from the new collection. There are also Halloween crates in the Mann Co. Store that don't require a key to open, while all unusual-type hats and taunts that are unboxed during the event will receive Halloween-themed effects.

Scream Fortress VI is already live in Team Fortress 2 and lasts until November 12, so you might want to join in on the free-to-play action sooner rather than later.
