Although the first Tizen-based smartphone commercially available did not sell very well, at least it fared better than Samsung initially expected.

The Z1 is very popular in emerging popular like India, which is why Samsung decided that it was time to refresh the series with yet another Tizen-powered smartphone.

As expected, the upcoming smartphone will come under the name of Samsung Z2 and will probably be launched in India and other emerging markets where the Z1 was released as well.

Rumors about the upcoming launch of Samsung Z2 date from less than three weeks ago, when the specs of the phone leaked online. Today, the first live pictures of the Z2 have popped up online, which makes us believe that we're very close to its release.

The device in the images looks like a typical Samsung entry-level smartphone. The South Korean company didn't change anything in term of design, which is a bit sad since Tizen is a new operating system

Design-wise, the Z2 is simply boring

Samsung Z2 strongly resembles the Galaxy S III or any other budget-friendly smartphone. Apart from these photos, nothing new has emerged on the unannounced smartphone.

However, for those out of the loop, here is a reminder on what the Samsung Z2 will have to offer in terms of specs. First of all, the smartphone is said to sport a qHD (540 x 960 pixels) display of unknown size.

In addition, the Z2 will be powered by a 2,000mAh battery and it should be equipped with a 32-bit quad-core processor, as well as 1GB of RAM. Samsung Z2 is expected to ship with Tizen 3.0 UI on board, but other than that, we know nothing about the smartphone.

As we're getting closer to launch, we expect more details on the Z2's price and availability to leak online, along with the phone's full specs. Stay tuned for more on this one.
