2014 wasn't the best year for Samsung, as its Galaxy S5 flagship received lots and lots of criticism and ultimately proved to be quite a big flop in terms of sales, but it seems that the company is ready to redeem its past mistakes.

With the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, the Korean tech giant seems to have checked a lot of “right” boxes, as initial feedback for the smartphones is pretty encouraging.

A few days ago, we told you that Samsung already managed to score a pretty massive 20 million unit order from carriers around the world, who are mightily impressed with the new handsets.

Then a new report claimed that, encouraged by this success, Samsung decided to ramp up the production volume for its new flagships to a total of 13 million throughout the months of March and April. Which would still leave Samsung 7 million short of the 20 million order.

Samsung could sell up to 46 million units of its new flagship

Anyway, it appears Samsung is right to increase production for the new phones, as the devices already show sings that they will indeed be highly popular. According to a report coming out of CitiBank, Samsung is expected to ship up to 46 million units of its regular Galaxy S6 model by the end of the year.

The previous forecast was only 38 million, so we’re seeing a consistent 8 million rise in expectations.

More than that, the analyst speaking for CitiBank also claims the Galaxy S6 will have a positive effect on the company’s low and mid-range line-up of products, as well as their in-house components such as DRAM/NAND memory and AMOLED displays.

CitiBank believes that the Galaxy S6’s presence will be felt in Samsung’s profits as soon as Q2, when the Korean tech giant should see its profit get bumped up by 39%.

Even if these predictions are right, the phone maker is still far from achieving Apple’s record sales in the last quarter of 2014, when the company pushed around 74.5 million iPhones to users. The launch of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus surely helped the Cupertino tech giant achieve this impressive number.
