MWC 2015 is fast approaching and the rumor mill has been buzzing hotly about companies like Samsung and HTC coming to Barcelona to unveil their latest flagship products.

But how about tablets? We haven’t seen anything too exciting in terms of slates ever since the Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact was introduced back at IFA 2015. It seems like the sluggish sales in the tablet department have prompted major device manufacturers to re-orient their attention towards smartphone products.

However, Samsung is not one of those looking to abandon their tab efforts. Yesterday, a report came in revealing that the Korean tech giant is working towards a tablet said to be thinner than the iPad Air 2.

Samsung's premium tab might be coming out next month?

We’re not given any numbers to juggle with, so the only thing that we can be sure of is that the new so-called Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will be slimmer than 6.1 mm / 0.24 inches.

On top of that, we’re told the Galaxy Tab S2 will arrive in two versions, one with an 8-inch display and another with a 9.7-inch one. Furthermore, the new devices will boast a 4:3 aspect ratio of the touchscreen.

Another interesting detail also surfaced. Samsung is looking to make its flagship devices feel more premium, as one of the main complaints Sammy fans have when talking about the company’s products is that the plastic on the devices makes them feel quite cheap.

Well, Samsung will be unveiling an all-metal clad Galaxy S6 at Barcelona and chances are the next-gen Galaxy Tab S will appear alongside it.

Will Samsung bring an all-metal portfolio in Barcelona?

Given the fact that the report claims the Galaxy Tab S2 will also boast a metal frame, it would make sense for the Korean tech giant to unveil both models side-by-side as a pair.

Let’s face that a premium build for the Galaxy Tab S2 doesn’t translate into a huge price, something which might hinder adoption among users.

In terms of specifications, we’re not really told anything, but we could guess Samsung might want to put its 14nm Exynos 7420 processor inside of the slob to be make it a real beast. Hopefully, come MWC 2015 in a few weeks we’ll know for sure.
