With less than three months until the official reveal of the Samsung Galaxy S6, the first information regarding the phone’s specs sheet have just surfaced online.

Samsung’s team of engineers and designers working on the so-called Project Zero has a difficult job ahead of them. They have to completely redesign the upcoming flagship smartphone from the ground up and convince consumers that Samsung can and will continue to innovate every year.

Unfortunately, that did not happen in the last few years since no major changes have been included in the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series of smartphones. Apart from a few hardware improvements, Samsung did not manage to bring anything really new to the table, which is why its profits went dangerously low.

It appears that Samsung is now betting all on the Galaxy S6, which should be at least stellar if the South Korean company wants to regain some of the market share it lost over the years.

The first mention of the Galaxy S6 dates from the end of last month, but not many specifics were available at that time just some speculations and info on Samsung’s plan to rethink its Galaxy S series.

Today, Chinese blog site CNMO spotted a prototype Samsung Galaxy S6 unit in AnTuTu Benchmark database. Judging by the internal name (SM-G925F), the device showing up online at AnTuTu is the European version of the Galaxy S6.

The Galaxy S6 is a major improvement over its predecessor

According to the listing, the Galaxy S6 should be equipped with a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, a Malu-T760 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.

The smartphone will also pack 32GB of internal memory, but there’s no mention of microSD card slot. Let’s hope Samsung won’t skip this feature as they did in the Galaxy Alpha.

Another important piece of information would be the fact that Samsung Galaxy S6 will make the jump to phablet category. The unannounced smartphone will sport a large 5.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display. Moreover, the phone’s screen is said to support QHD (1440 x 2560 pixels) resolution.

Samsung has decided to upgrade the rear-facing camera, so the Galaxy S6 will boast a 20-megapixel camera on the back, which will feature LED flash, autofocus and video recording. There will also be a 5-megapixel camera in the front, which will be great for selfies and video calls.

That’s about all the details included in the AnTuTu benchmark listing, but let’s not forget that this is just a prototype unit so Samsung might change a few things here and there by the time the Galaxy S6 goes official in late February / early March.
