The multi-core tests, on the other hand, are off the charts

The first alleged benchmark of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge popped up online few days ago and showed the smartphone will be more powerful than any other device, smartphone or tablet, that’s now available on the market.

With more than 60k points scored in AnTuTu benchmark thanks to its octa-core Exynos 7420 chipset, the Galaxy S6 Edge jumped on top of the highest ranking smartphones in terms of performance.

Now a slightly more complex benchmark appeared online, but the info is now coming from Geekbench’s database and provides us with in-depth details on Galaxy S6 Edge’s insides.

First of all, there are actually two different tests that the benchmark usually runs: a single-core test and a multi-core one. Obviously, their scores are different, but what’s interesting is that the single-core test shows that Galaxy S6 Edge is not performing too well when using a single core in the chipset.

In the multi-core test the smartphone scores 5,077 points, which is by far the highest a smartphone managed to attain. Unfortunately, the single-core score of 1,492 points puts the alleged Galaxy S6 Edge under Nexus 9 tablet and iPhone 6 Plus smartphone, which both scored better.

Samsung still has time to improve the performance of the Galaxy S6

Considering the device tested is supposedly a testing unit or a prototype, there’s a chance that the Galaxy S6 Edge’s performances might improve by the time it goes on sale, but we don’t know for sure.

Many consider the single-core performance more important than multi-core, but let’s not jump to any conclusion yet until the real tests appear after the release of the Galaxy S6 Edge.

There’s less than a month until Samsung is expected to reveal its next flagship smartphone and rumor has it that the company will launch two Galaxy S6 devices.

The Galaxy S6 Edge will feature a 3-sided display, but other than that it should have the same specs as the standard version. What do you think about Galaxy S6 Edge’s new benchmark scores?
