14 DAY TRIAL // We previously reported that Samsung teamed up with Marvel to the delight of Android and comic book fans around the world. As part of the partnership, the two companies will roll out an entire series of Avengers-themed smartphones, and the first one is just days away from being revealed.
The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are the first to receive the Marvel treatment, as the two smartphones will be customized with themes based on the popular characters appearing in the movie.
Last week, Samsung teased the Iron Man Edition of Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 edge as “coming soon,” but it did not provide us with a specific date. The good news is that you won’t have to wait too long for these models.
Samsung Mobile Korea has posted an image on Facebook revealing that the Galaxy S6 Edge Iron Man Edition is coming next week. The exact day hasn’t been shared with us, but it doesn’t really matter at this point. The timeframe has been narrowed down enough.
Will the Avengers-themed phones be launched only in Korea?
However, we now wonder whether the fact that Samsung Korea was the one making the announcement means that the company will only launch the phone in its home country, while the rest of the world will have to wait some more.
The Iron Man Edition will be the first Avengers-themed Galaxy S6 smartphone to come out, but Marvel and Samsung are prepping more options.
So, if your favorite character isn’t the fierce Iron Man, you can wait for the other versions. Although we can’t really tell you for sure when they will be launched into the wild.
The Iron Man version will be red, while the Hulk model will sport a green paint job. There will also be a Thor version and a Captain America, but also Hawkeye and Black Widow-themed ones. The Captain Fury edition of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge will be black.
At this point, nothing is known related to pricing specifications, but we can tell you that, aside from the software-themed changes, the Avengers Edition Galaxy S6 units won’t differ from the standard models.
However, we’ll have to assume these models will be a tad more expensive than the “average” Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.
