Samsung is expected to launch a rugged version of its current flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6, but it won't come with a curved display.

The Galaxy S6 Active will be making its debut on AT&T's network sometime this month. Rumor has it that the smartphone might be announced on June 5, but take this as speculation for now.

The first press render of the smartphone leaked about two weeks ago to let us know that Galaxy S6 Active will be available at AT&T in two color options: Black and White.

Today, the same leaker Evan Blass posted another official render of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active in Black. It's a slightly better picture of the smartphone than what we got last month, which confirms once again that the Galaxy S6 Active will be released at AT&T.

We know nothing about pricing options yet, but there's a chance that it will be available for a price similar to that of the standard model.

On the other hand, since Galaxy S6 Active will be exclusive to AT&T in the United States, and because it's a rugged device that comes with a little bit more features, it might be priced slightly higher.

Although we don't have any confirmation on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active specs sheet, there shouldn't be any differences between this and the original model when it comes to hardware.

Military grade certification should make it as sturdy as possible

We do expect the Galaxy S6 Active to be MIL-STD-810G certified, so expect it to be resistant to dust, rain, humidity, salt, vibration, solar radiation and thermal shock.

Besides that, the smartphone should be equipped with an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory.

Just like the standard model, it's expected to lack microSD card slot and the battery will certainly be non-removable. Obviously, Samsung might make some changes, but for the time being it's unclear whether or not they will include the missing microSD slot.

Other highlights include 5.1-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display, 3500 mAh battery, 16-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel camera in the front.

As we're getting closer to the rumored Galaxy S6 Active launch date, stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
