Previous rumors claimed the update might arrive in November

There are some good and bad news for Samsung Galaxy S5 owners who anxiously await for the South Korean company to announce when exactly it will start delivering the highly anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

According to previous rumors coming from sources close to the matter, Samsung planned to release the Lollipop update for the Galaxy S5 sometime in late November.

The smartphone still needs to receive the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update, along with many other Galaxy handsets, but Samsung is still mum on the matter.

It’s still unclear whether or not Samsung will skip Android 4.4.4 KitKat for some of its high-end smartphones and upgrade them directly to Lollipop.

According to the latest hearsay, the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 should receive the last KitKat update sometime this month, but we’re only one week away and we still don’t have any details.

Anyway, the bad news is the late November deadline seems to have turned into a December timeframe, SamMobile reports. If it had been early December, it wouldn’t have been a problem since the initial rumors pointed to a late November release, so it’s just a matter of a few weeks.

Since Google confirmed Android 5.0 Lollipop would be officially released on the market on November 3, it makes sense for handset makers to take some time to tweak the new version of the operating system for their products.

We should also consider the fact that Google may in fact send the final version of Lollipop to handset manufacturers a little bit earlier than November 3, though we will probably never know for sure.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 should be the first to receive Lollipop

Back to Samsung, the South Korean company is also rumored to provide Galaxy Note 4 owners with the Android 5.0 Lollipop update as well. Unfortunately, since Samsung has yet to make any official statements regarding this update, it’s hard to tell for sure when the company’s flagship smartphone will be eligible for the upgrade.

We believe the Galaxy Note 4 might be the first Samsung smartphone to receive Lollipop, most likely followed by Galaxy S5, which is now expected to get the upgrade in December at some point.

Motorola, HTC and Sony have already confirmed they will release Android 5.0 Lollipop updates for some of their products. The timings, however, will be announced as soon as they get their hands on the Android 5.0 Lollipop build that should be delivered within the next week or so.

If you’re a Samsung user, then you will have to wait some more for the South Korean company to confirm anything about Lollipop, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
