Samsung is prepping the Galaxy A series of smartphones and the A3 and A5 smartphones have already been announced.

And yesterday we shared with you the specifications of the A7 model, which is going to be the most advanced of the bunch.

Samsung Galaxy E series revealed

But it seems Samsung is also planning another series, this time entitled the Galaxy E. Leaks in the past have suggested the Galaxy E family will pack pretty mid-range specs under the hood.

And the folks over at Sam Mobile have already managed to dig up the specs of two of the models in the new family, namely the E7 and E5.

But first things first. The Galaxy E7 will arrive with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and a Snapdragon 410 processor tucked underneath fitted with 2GB of RAM.

The handset will take advantage of two cameras (13MP on the back and 5MP up in front), 16GB of internal storage (that can be expanded) and a 2950 mAh battery.

When it arrives, the Galaxy E7 will be considered pretty thin, coming with a 7.2-mm / 0.28-inch profile, but surely it won’t be a match for Vivo X5 Max’s 4.75 mm / 0.18 inches.

Moving along to the Galaxy E5, the smartphone will take advantage of a smaller 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display. Apart from the size, the remaining specs are pretty similar to the E7. That means the handset will also take advantage of a Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

It has the same 5MP front-facing camera, but we’re not told if the main one remains of the 13MP variety. Compared to the E7, the E5 is going to be a tad thinner, coming in at 6.9mm / 0.27 inches. It’s also going to weigh 140 g / 0.3 lbs.

Galaxy E models come packed with Android 5.0 Lollipop

Last but not least, the two handsets will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box (yey) and will probably take advantage of the same UX seen on Lollipop on the Galaxy S5 and S4. By contrast, the Galaxy A family is still stuck with Android 4.4 KitKat.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the E5 and E7 will arrive with non-removable batteries, but we’re yet to find out whether they will come with metal bodies or not.

The release schedule for the Galaxy E5 and E7 is unclear yet, but the most plausible scenario is that they will hit retail locations sometimes in 2015.
