The smartphone has been introduced in China

Samsung seems concerned that it has lost lots in customers in China, one of the largest smartphone markets in the world. Companies like Oppo, Meizu and Xiaomi are constantly eating at Samsung’s market share, which is why the South Korean handset maker is trying to bring more products into the Mainland.

The latest addition to Samsung’s Android portfolio is called Galaxy Core Max and as much as we would like to say that this is one mid-range smartphone that stands out, we can’t really confirm that.

The only aspect that might be considered a major differentiator would be the fact that Samsung Galaxy Core Max sports a Super AMOLED display, which is a bit unusual for mid-range smartphones.

Aside from that, it doesn’t really stand out from other devices in the same price range. Considering Samsung is now pricing its handsets slightly higher than Chinese OEMs, we believe the Galaxy Core Max will be far from being popular unless it brings something new onto the market.

That could be the case if Samsung would confirm the Galaxy Core Max is equipped with a 64-bit chipset, but for the moment the South Korean company only mentions the fact that the smartphone is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor GSMArena reports.

We also know Samsung Galaxy Core Max will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box, which is in no way surprising considering Google hasn’t released Lollipop on the market yet.

As mentioned earlier, the smartphone sports a 4.8-inch qHD (540 x 960 pixels) Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, as well as 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. Obviously, the Galaxy Core Max also includes a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB).

It’s also nice that Samsung decided to add an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera into the mix, but it’s even nicer that Galaxy Core Max comes with a 5-megapixel camera in the front which should be perfect for selfies and video calls.

Samsung Galaxy Core Max measures 136.3 x 69.6 x 8 mm and weighs 132g (battery included). The South Korean company has also confirmed that the device is powered by a 2200 mAh battery, which hasn’t been rated yet.

For the time being, the dual-SIM Galaxy Core Max has only been introduced in China where it will be up for sale soon, but Samsung may launch the smartphone in other countries in the region as well. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
