So far, Samsung has been focusing on bringing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its flagship phones, but it hasn't ignored its tablet lineup completely.

Last month, we told you that Samsung’s premium Galaxy Tab S AMOLED tablet duo was finally receiving the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update in some parts of the world.

The Galaxy Tab S family was unveiled during the summer of 2014, but months earlier at CES 2014, Sammy also introduced a family of business-oriented premium models with Android 4.4 KitKat OS pre-installed, called the NotePRO and TabPRO.

We got to review the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 and found it to be a great productivity tool for professionals, especially due to the presence of the handy S Pen and the multi-tasking feature which allowed users to open up to four different apps on the display and operate them in parallel.

Samsung moves to update older tablet models

Luckily, Samsung hasn't forgotten about these premium tablets, and this week it is initiating the rollout of Android 5.0.2 Lollipop for the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 LTE version. The update is currently going out to users in Italy, but as is the case with these software launches, some users will get it sooner than others based on location.

You shouldn't be expecting to see any new, major feature get added to the roster, but the update does bring an improved user interface with slight Material Design touches (it is TouchWiz after all), improved performance, advanced controls over notifications, and various gains in terms of user experience.

The update is currently available over at Samsung Kies, but if you’d rather you waited for the OTA update, you can do so, with the mention that it might be a while before it reaches you. Interestingly enough, it’s usually the Wi-Fi version of a device that’s the first recipient of a new update, but in the case of the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2, things are a bit upside down.

However, we’re pretty sure Samsung will be offering the same treatment to the other versions soon enough. And hopefully, Android 5.0.2 is also headed to the Samsung Galaxy TabPRO 12.2 soon. And maybe the TabPRO 10.1 and 8.4, too.
