What could make the Galaxy Note 5 truly special?

Samsung’s Galaxy Edge smartphone of last year was an experiment that proved to be quite successful. Since then, we’ve seen an increasing interest in phones that come with an edge-to-edge display, so the company is doing the best it can to appease users’ thirst for new “edged” devices.

Samsung’s next-in-line flagship is the Galaxy Note 5, and until shortly, we assumed the phablet would also have a dual-edged version. But as it turns out, the device maker will release a version of the Galaxy S6 edge ahead of the September Galaxy Note 5 phablet.

So since the South-Korean company will unveil a sole premium product, the Galaxy Note 5 will really have to be impressive to improve the audience. And the designers at SamsungGalaxyNote5 believe they know what could make the phablet a very hot product.

A projector inside the smartphone is not a novel concept

They have envisioned a device that takes advantage of a built-in projector that uses 3LCD technology. The aim is to “convert rooms into cinema theaters,” as per their own words.

If this sounds familiar is because Lenovo has recently teased a smartphone that bundles a pico-projector. The handset is called Smart Cast and can project a touchscreen display onto any surface.

The device is the first to integrate a focus-free laser projector, while the current standard only takes advantage of DLP (digital light processing) tech. Lenovo also has the 13.3-inch Yogat Tablet 2 Pro, which also bundles a pico-projector capable of projecting WVGA (854 x 480) resolution images.

Anyway, going back to the Galaxy Note 5 concept, it appears that the home button has now been embedded directly into the touchscreen as a virtual button.

The phablet’s design remains angular and there’s glass positioned in a similar fashion to what we see on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.

Putting conceptualization aside for a moment, the real-life phablet is expected to arrive with a 4K or 2K panel on board, as Samsung has been rumored to be testing both options.

As for processing power, the Korean tech giant might use either the Exynos 7430 platform or the Exynos 7422, the company’s first ever all-in-one solution (ePoP) said to combine GPU, CPU, RAM, storage and modem on a single chip.
