There will be no Android 5.0 build for these handsets

Earlier today we told you Samsung’s Android 5.0.1 Lollipop for the Galaxy S5 LTE-A model has been spotted in the wild and is bound to arrive to users in Korea in the near future.

The Galaxy S5 LTE-A will apparently be the first device to take advantage of Android 5.0.1. Or is it? The folks of Sam Mobile are back with further info on the matter.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge will get Android 5.0.1

Apparently, Sammy is prepping the Android 5.0.1 build for a couple of more phablets, the Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge to be more specific.

Since Android 5.0.1 for the Galaxy S5 LTE-A seems to be stable enough, the company probably feels like there’s no need to throw Android 5.0 in the mix when it can go directly to 5.1.

That means the Galaxy Note 4 and Note Edge will see Android 5.0.1 directly, thus by-passing a stage in their update process.

A few weeks back, a preview of Lollipop running on the Galaxy Note 4 showed up online, giving you an idea of how Android’s latest will look like on the handset.

While we wait for Samsung to roll out the Android 5.0.1 update for the above-mentioned handsets, you can check out the older preview to get an idea of what’s coming to you.

Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Galaxy Note 4 leaked in screenshots and video

As you can see in the video bellow, the TouchWiz (Samsung’s proprietary UI) was a tad buggy, but according to reports, the 5.0.1 variant does not suffer from the same issues. The Lollipop 5.0 preview leaked in early December and since then Samsung seems to have had time to brush up on some things.

Among the new additions you can spot in the older screenshots/video, we should highlight the settings menu’s side scrollable tabs for different sections.

Also, check out the stock Android apps because they have been updated with Material Design UI and new shortcut and icons have been included.

Samsung said that Lollipop 5.0 would arrive on the Galaxy Note 4 in early 2015. But we guess now it’s safe to assume that the new build hitting your device will be 5.0.1 instead.

Sammy didn’t provide a specific month, so if we’re going to be pessimistic here, the Galaxy Note 4 should receive its update until March, at the latest.

The Galaxy Edge was also said to get Lollipop treatment in the first few months of 2015. Hopefully, the new build will arrive sooner rather than later.
