Samsung’s mythical big tablet comes back in the news

Back when the Samsung Galaxy Tab S tablets were still a myth, a rumor surfaced online saying that the almighty Korean tech giant was also working on a huge tablet with a 13-inch display.

So far Samsung has released tablets with 12.2-inch screens, but nothing above this form factor was ever seen to come out of the device maker.

However, it appears that more and more companies are looking to add larger tablets to their portfolio.

For example, Lenovo just unleashed a media consumption slate called the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro which takes advantage of a 13-inch screen. Microsoft also has launched the reputed Surface Pro 3, which is apparently very popular with consumers.

To add more fire to the speculation, Apple is also said to be working on a tablet with a larger display, although it’s not going to be a 13-inch one, but rather a 12-incher. And so is Sony.

Samsung's big tablet makes a comeback

Now, a new report coming out of Asia and relayed to us by SamMobile claims Samsung is ready to launch its rumored 13-inch slob before the end of the year.

The source doesn’t have much information about the internal specifications of the device, but it is speculated that the tablet will take advantage of an LCD panel, rather than a Super AMOLED one, like it’s the case with the Galaxy Tab S.

Samsung hasn’t announced anything interesting in terms of tablets ever since its AMOLED duo came out this summer, so the end of the year might be a good time to put something on the market to ensure the holiday season is covered.

It appears there’s a possibility the company will also roll out the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2015) until the year comes to an end, but nothing is set in stone for the time being.

The 13.3-inch Warhol surfaced a few months ago

Anyway, we’ll take the opportunity to remind you that back in May, a Samsung mega tablet with a 13.3-inch screen codenamed “Warhol” surfaced online.

It showed that the tablet would arrive with an LCD display and boast WQHD resolution (2560 x 1600 pixel resolution) which is the same as that found in the Galaxy Tab S. The leak also indicated the tablet would have 227 ppi.

Earlier rumors claimed Samsung’s 13.3-inch tablet was actually meant to be a dual-boot Android/Windows RT device, but this scenario is highly unlikely given the demise of Windows RT.

On top of that, neither Google nor Microsoft condone dual-booting machine, so it would be useless for Samsung to try.
