Volition has announced that Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell and the remastered new-gen version of Saints Row IV, dubbed Re-Elected, will be released one week earlier than initially announced.

The developer has also released a neat new gameplay video, titled The 7 Deadly Sins of Johnny Gat, showcasing some of the contents of the Gat Out of Hell expansion, in a highly stylized manner. Spoiler: it includes headbutting Satan.

The trailer highlights some of the over-the-top weaponry that gamers will be able to make use of when the expansion drops, such as a cake coating gun and the dime-shooting submachine gun.

The expansion will feature the same over-the-top content that Volition accustomed us with, complete with kicking adorable cartoon characters into lava, and judging from the trailer, it's going to be awesome.

New action for a new generation

The developer is also releasing Saints Row IV: Re-Elected on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms, enabling gamers who missed on all the zany action to enjoy one of the most exciting open-world video games ever created.

The Gat Out of Hell expansion, bundled with the Re-Elected edition, follows Johnny Gat in the search for the leader of the Saints, who has been kidnapped by Satan.

Finding themselves in the city of New Hades, Hell, Johnny and Kinzie will complete various nefarious activities in order to fill the Satan's Wrath meter, ultimately taking on the Dark Lord himself. It kind of makes one wonder what they'll be coming up with next.

Along the way, Johnny and Kinzie will be reunited with numerous deceased enemies and friends from the past, as well as a slew of new ones.

Exciting open-world adventures

Gat Out of Hell shares many gameplay aspects with the base game, being mostly played as a third-person shooter. Super powers from Saints Row IV will be making a return, alongside the Angelic Flight ability, giving wings to the player and enabling him to deal death from above.

The game will feature the same patented open-world gameplay, focusing on exploring a sprawling map scattered with various quests, objectives and collectibles, and will also have an over-arching narrative for players to complete as they see fit.

Volition did not provide a reason for the change of release date, but it might have something to do with the fact that it overlaps with the launch of Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V on PC. The standalone edition of Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell and the new-gen debut of Saints Row IV will now happen on January 20.
