The developers behind the Gentoo-based Sabayon Linux distribution has had the great pleasure of announcing that the latest monthly update ships with next-generation technologies.

Therefore, we can report today that Sabayon Linux 15.06 has been released, and it is now powered by the latest and greatest Linux kernel 4.0. It also updates the systemd init system to version 216, the libav library to version 11.3, GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) to version 4.9.2, and XBMC Media Center has been upgraded to the latest Kodi release.

Among other noteworthy changes, we can mention that the Entropy package manager has been prepared for the upgrade to the modern, next-gen KDE Plasma 5 desktop environment, primus support has been added for high-performance graphics on Nvidia Optimus video cards, support for x265 multimedia codec has been implemented.

The fact of the matter is that Sabayon Linux 15.06 was made available for download last week for the month of June 2015. For those of you who are not in the loop, we inform you that Sabayon gets new Live ISO images at the beginning of each month of a year.

"We changed a lot of thing under the hood, and with this release we wanted to show them up also on the surface. All the flavors received the deserved love," reads the announcement for Sabayon 15.06. "We have some very exciting improvements in the pipeline."
