The previous funding campaign has been suspended

One of the most successful games developed by a Ukrainian studio, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, is about to make a sequel if fans wish so.

Earlier this year, the folks over at West Games kicked off a funding campaign on Kickstarter for the making of the spiritual successor of S.T.A.L.K.E.R called Areal, which ended up being suspended due to accusations of theft and false claims.

Fast forward several months later and West Games, the developers behind Areal that got suspended earlier this year, is back with yet another project that seeks funding.

STALKER Apocalypse is the new project that West Games is trying to bring to fans of the series, but in order to do that they need no less than $600,000 (€480.000).

Given the fact that their project has been refused publishing on Kickstarter, the folks of West Games have decided to try and raise the required amount through a much less popular crowdfunding site called World Wide Funder.

Unfortunately, it’s hard to believe that West Games will be able to raise 12 times the amount they were seeking in the original campaign on Kickstarter with the help of a little-known crowdfunding website such as World Wide Funder.

Still, there’s a chance that West Games will eventually make their STALKER Apocalypse game if they find other funding sources besides the amount raised through crowdfunding.

The project's funding campaign will end in March, 2015

World Wide Funder allows project owners to keep the amount of money pledged by the time the campaign finishes regardless whether a project is 100% funded or not.

Another positive aspect about West Games’ campaign would be the fact that it will end on March 14, 2015, which means there are more than 3 months in which devs can raise enough money to completely be able to release the game in August 2016.

For those who haven’t checked out the original project on Kickstarter called Areal, STALKER Apocalypse does look and feel like a spiritual successor of the popular S.T.A.L.K.E.R game.

According to developers, STALKER Apocalypse is a shooter game that mixes RPG elements with those of an investigative thriller and horror game. It’s being developed on Unreal Engine 4 and will include support for Oculus Rift.

If enough money is raised, STALKER Apocalypse will be released on PC (Windows and Mac), as well as the new consoles (Xbox One and PlayStation 4).

For more details on the story behind STALKER Apocalypse and the game mechanics make sure to head over to the project’s World Wide Funder page.
